Hello everybody !

Je vous propose aujourd’hui de choisir vous-même le bon temps et… la bonne forme pour les phrases ci-dessous. Une petite aide ? Eh bien, après quelques hésitations compte-tenu de vos bonnes performances… je vous donne quand même le verbe à utiliser !!!!!

CORRECTION : VENDREDI 15 JUIN 2007

1 – I really wish you .......... your temper so often. (to lose)
2 – ‘Do you think we should take a taxi to the theatre ?’ ‘Well, we could, but why not .......... by bus if there is one available?’ (to go)
3 – I’m afraid Mr. Smith .......... his class this afternoon. He’s got the flu. (to give)
4 – Well, the car doesn’t start well. I .......... by the mechanic before the end of the week. (must/to check)
5 – Apparently, there’s been another coup in that country. It is not sure, but some rebels .......... the president. (to expel)
6 – What ? .......... in the casino again ? Do you know that this will ruin you in the end ? (to gamble)
7 - When I met her in October I found that she was even prettier than she .......... . (to describe)
8 - I wish I .......... better-off. At least I could travel more often. (to be)
9 - How I wish I .......... to you before you left. (to talk)
10 –I told you to be here at 4 o’clock sharp. I don’t like .......... , not even by you. (to wait)
11 – It is more than ten years since I .......... down here. (to settle)

6 – What ? Gambling in the casino again ? Do you know that this will ruin you in the end ?

9 - How I wish I had talk to you before you left.
10 –I told you to be here at 4 o’clock sharp. I don’t like waiting , not even by you. (to wait) (là je suis bloquée par l'utilisation du "by"..pourquoi ce n'est pas "for" ? du coup mon "waiting" est faux sans aucun doute)
11 – It is more than ten years since I settled down here.
12 – One last detail : should you fail in this transaction, the company would not be able to keep you. Do I make myself clear ?

Oui oui j'ai u ne question, j'aurais besoin d'une piqûre (ouille ) de rappel concernant la façon de construire WISH et surtout le temps qui va derrière, c'est ma bête noire, je me trompe tout le temps, je sais qu'il y a une nuance selon si on exprime un souhait ou un regret..mais j'ai vraiment besoin d'une piqûre (aie ) de rappel

Bien, bien..... je rappelle à Mesdemoiselles O'RientCat et Fame qu'il leur suffit d'aller cliquer sur la leçon de grammaire concernant "wish" !

Bienvenue à Bendoria, pour commencer.... il serait bien d'aller voir les leçons des verbes "to be" et "to have" au présent, avec les pronoms personnels, puis la conjugaison des verbes au présent. Il y a, avec chaque leçon, un lien pour aller faire des petits exercices auto-correctifs !

Nous reprenons la phrase :
- I really wish you did not lose your temper so often.
Traduction : Si seulement tu ne te mettais pas si souvent en colère.

Bien, dans ce cas de figure wish exprime le regret. Il te suffit de le remplacer dans ta tête
par "if only", bon... tu suis .....
Si le regret concerne une situation présente, tu emploies un "preterit", s'il s'agit d'une situation passée, tu emploies un "past perfect".... !
Ex : Pierre wishes N..... had come to the party last night.
N.... didn't come to the party, and Pierre is not happy about this. not at all !!!!!!

Dans l'exercice, nous parlons d'une situation présente.
Et voili, voilà.....

Est-ce plus clair ainsi ???

J'ai mal traduis en fait : je pensais qu'il s'agissait de regretter une action passée ( donc on emploie un past perfect) c'est ça hein ?

Well, I do think, my little Fame, you need to go to bed very quickly

M'enfin, pour la phrase numéro neuf..... c'est le deuxième cas, les regrets sur le passé "comme j'aurais aimé (pouvoir) te parler avant que tu ne partes... nostalgie, quoi..... donc, il fallait bien un "past perfect" !

Cela va mieux ???? Tu m'inquiètes !!!
