Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. Has anyone been gardening? The weather was so nice here, near Paris, that I stayed outside most of the time. Some of my flowers are already blooming and many more are waiting for their turn to give us a lot of pleasure.

I'm giving a try to this exercice hoping I don't make too many mistakes. Sometimes, I felt like adding words instead of taking them out!!!
exemple: no 3 and 13. Was that part of the game?!!?

This is a great coward cat story. You're being very creative. Congradulations. I'm sure this kind of cat is not part of the Mysto family, is it?.

I don't have a clear idea of the difference between into and in, onto and on. When the answer to this exercice is given to us at the end of the week, could you please Mysto, include information on the grammar rule which applies here, if it's not too much trouble for you?
Thanks a million.

Good evening,

One evening a woman was very frightened when she saw a little mouse sitting in the middle of the floor, she jumped on the chair and called for help but nobody came. Then she remembered (that) she had a cat. She thought it was brave enough to chase the little mouse away. So she ran downstairs to fetch it. She found the cat and ran upstairs with it, feeling sure that it would make the mouse run away. But instead of chasing the mouse, the cat jumped on the woman's lap - it was more afraid of the little creature than the woman was. The little mouse thought (that) it had never seen such a cowardly cat. So it went into the kitchen and ate all the cheese from the fridge.

Thanking you, my dear MystO'...

11) But instead of chasing the mouse,
12) the cat (was) jumped into the woman's lap -
13) it was (the) more afraid of the little creature than the woman.
14) The little mouse thought (of) that
15) it had never seen such a cowardly cat.
16) So it went into the kitchen and ate up all the cheese from the fridge.

My dear Mariaa, here are some more explanations as for in/into and on/onto.

In : normally indicates position
Into : indicates movement, entrance.
With the verb “put”, however, either in or into can be used :
- He put his hands in/into his pockets.

On : can be used for both position and movement :
- He was sitting on his case.
- Snow fell on the hills.

Onto : can be used (chiefly of people and animals) when there is a movement involving
a change of level :
- People climbed onto their roofs.

In and on can also be adverbs :
- We get into a public or private vehicule, or get in (adverb).
- We get on/onto a public vehicule, or get on (adverb).
But… we go on board a boat (= embark).

I hope these explanations will make it clear enough for everybody ! Wink

Many thanks for taking part !

MystO'Griff Love
